Stop trying to fix the problem.

Start understanding the need beneath it.

Learn to uncover the emotional needs underneath what's keeping you or your clients stuck.

Introducing a practical practitioner training in working with the emotional needs underlying stuck patterns, self-sabotage and unwanted behaviours using simple self-enquiry and Kinesiology processes.

[DATES] | [FORMAT] | [INVESTMENT]

What if the behaviour, stress or pattern you’re trying to change isn’t the real problem?

You can know exactly what you want to change and still find yourself:

  • repeating the same behaviour

  • procrastinating on what matters

  • overworking or over-giving

  • struggling to make a decision

  • feeling stressed or overwhelmed

  • sabotaging something you genuinely want

  • stuck in a pattern you can't seem to shift

And the more you try to fix, control or stop the behaviour, the more you feel stuck. 🤯

What if, you stropped trying to “get rid” of your sabotaging behaviour and started asking how it is trying to help you?

Underneath many unwanted behaviours and patterns is an emotional need, one that may be unrecognised, neglected, disowned, conflicted or attached to a particular condition.

This course will teach you how to recognise what's underneath the presenting problem and work with the need rather than simply trying to fix the behaviour.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Across three practical modules, you'll learn three complementary processes for working with emotional needs.

What You’ll Learn…

#1: THE NEED BENEATH THE PROBLEM

Understanding Emotional Needs, Disowned Energy & Self-Sabotage

This week invites you work with the foundational premise: every unwanted behaviour you are trying to change is underpinned by an emotional need. Change isn’t possible until you identify, understand and respond to your emotional needs in a healthy way.

In this session you will:

  • Understand the role of emotional needs

  • Explore the five core emotional needs

  • Understand how needs can become neglected, ignored, dismissed or disowned

  • Distinguish between an emotional need and the strategy being used to meet it

  • Know how unmet, ignored or disowned needs can express through unwanted behaviours and patterns

  • Learn to look beneath behaviour, stress and self-sabotage to identify the emotional need that may be driving the pattern

  • Learn a practical process for recognising a need and developing a conscious, healthy response

#2: THE PENDULUM

WORKING WITH CONFLICTING NEEDS

Sometimes you're not stuck because you don't know what you want. You're stuck because different needs are pulling you in different directions.

In this session you will:

  • Understand how conflicting needs can create an internal stalemate

  • Know why you can genuinely want something while simultaneously resisting it

  • Identify how forcing a choice or trying to eliminate a habit causes stagnation

  • Learn how to apply the Pendulum Process to release inner conflict and resolve the root of your sabotaging patterns

#3: FROM ATTACHMENT TO EMPOWERMENT

WORKING WITH CONDITIONAL NEEDS

Have you ever judged yourself for having needs? Your needs aren’t the problem - the attachment to how they must be met is.

In this session you will:

  • Explore how needs become attached to external conditions

  • Distinguish between having a need and making something responsible for meeting it

  • Understand how conditions can create fear and dependency and keep patterns in place

  • Apply the Path of Empowerment process to release self-sabotage and claim more self-responsibility, freedom and choice

  • Know what it means to take responsibility for a need while still allowing healthy support and interdependence (i.e. you don’t have to do everything alone!)

How the Course Works…

This is a practical, experiential training rather than a theory-heavy course.

For each process, you'll:

  • LEARN: Understand the underlying concept and framework

  • EXPERIENCE: Apply the process to something personal

  • DECONSTRUCT: Understand what happened and why

  • DEMONSTRATE: See how the process can be facilitated with a client

  • PRACTICE: Have an opportunity to use the process yourself. This means you aren't simply walking away with a set of protocols. You're developing the understanding and confidence to work with the process.

NOTE:

EXPERIENCE & EMBODY BEFORE YOU EMPOWER CLIENTS

A central part of this training is experiencing the processes for yourself before learning how to use them with clients. It is tempting to ‘dive in’ to how you’ll help others with what you learn in this course. You will be asked to work with your own real-life patterns and issues, so you can experience:

  • "I can see why I've been stuck"

  • "I feel more compassionate towards myself"

  • "I have a way to work with something that has been bothering me"

Then we'll unpack the process so you understand what happened, why it worked and how to facilitate it with someone else.

CORE PRACTITIONER SKILLS you’ll develop

  • SEE BENEATH THE PRESENTING PROBLEM

Recognise that behaviour, stress and self-sabotage may be expressions of an underlying emotional need rather than simply problems to be fixed

  • identify underlying emotional needs

Use self-enquiry and kinesiology (where appropriate) to investigate needs that may not be consciously accessible.

  • Distinguish needs from strategies

Recognise the difference between the fundamental need and the behaviour or strategy being used to try to meet it

  • Recognise different types of need blockage

Begin to distinguish between needs that are unrecognised/disowned, conflicted or conditional/attached

  • Use the AAA Model to guide response

Help yourself or a client move from recognising what is happening to consciously responding to the underlying need.

  • Facilitate the Pendulum process

Work with situations where conflicting needs are contributing to stuckness, helping clients explore both sides and find new possibilities for choice

  • Work with conditional needs

Identify the conditions and attachments that have become linked to a need and facilitate a process towards greater empowerment and choice

  • Use questioning more effectively

Ask questions that help uncover what is underneath a behaviour rather than imposing an interpretation or immediately looking for a solution

  • Work with clients from curiosity rather than fixing

Develop a more compassionate and investigative approach to presenting problems

  • Integrate kinesiology into the process

For those who use kinesiology, learn where testing can support the process by helping identify or prioritise needs, explore conflict and navigate what needs attention

PERSONAL BENEFITS

Although this is a practitioner training, the processes are designed to be personally useful as well as professionally applicable.

You may find yourself:

  • Understanding why you've been stuck in a particular pattern

  • Recognising the needs underneath your own behaviours

  • Becoming more compassionate towards yourself

  • Reducing the judgement you place on unwanted behaviours

  • Understanding why you keep doing something you consciously want to stop

  • Recognising when different needs are pulling you in different directions

  • Seeing choices and possibilities that weren't previously visible

  • Becoming more aware of what you actually need

  • Developing healthier ways of responding to your needs

  • Taking greater responsibility for your needs without believing you have to do everything alone

  • Becoming less dependent on particular people, circumstances or outcomes to meet your emotional needs

  • Having practical processes you can return to when something is bothering you or you feel stuck

  • Have a different way of understanding yourself when something isn't working
