What You’ll Learn…

Across three practical modules, you'll learn three complementary processes for working with emotional needs.

#1: THE NEED BENEATH THE PROBLEM

Understanding Emotional Needs, Disowned Energy & Self-Sabotage

This week invites you work with the foundational premise: every unwanted behaviour you are trying to change is underpinned by an emotional need. Change isn’t possible until you identify, understand and respond to your emotional needs in a healthy way.

In this session you will:

  • Understand how emotional needs influence behaviour, choices and stuck patterns

  • Explore the five core needs: Safety, Love, Power, Freedom and Joy

  • Recognise when a need is neglected, disowned or hidden beneath self-sabotage

  • Distinguish the underlying need from the strategy being used to meet it

  • Use body signals, self-enquiry and kinesiology to identify what may be driving the pattern

  • Apply a practical process for responding to the need in a healthier, more conscious way

#2: WORKING WITH CONFLICTING NEEDS

The Pendulum: From Inner Conflict to Choice

Sometimes you’re not stuck because you lack clarity or don’t know what you want - you’re stuck because different needs are pulling you in opposite directions.

In this session you will:

  • Understand how conflicting needs can create an internal stalemate

  • Recognise why you can genuinely want something while simultaneously resisting it

  • Explore how each side of the conflict may be trying to meet a legitimate emotional need

  • Identify the purpose, payoff, fear and need behind each position

  • See how forcing a choice can keep you stuck or cause the pendulum to swing

  • Use the Pendulum Process to create greater understanding, compassion and choice

#3: WORKING WITH CONDITIONAL NEEDS

Conditional Release: From Attachment to Empowerment

Having needs isn’t the problem. The struggle often begins when those needs become tied to how, when or through whom they must be met.

In this session you will:

  • Explore how emotional needs can become attached to particular people, outcomes or circumstances

  • Distinguish between having a need and making something outside you responsible for meeting it

  • Understand how conditions can create fear, dependency and stuck patterns

  • Recognise the link between attachment, self-sabotage and unwanted behaviours

  • Apply the Conditional Release process to identify and release conditions attached to a need

  • Move towards greater self-responsibility, freedom and choice while still allowing healthy support

How the Course Works…

This is a practical, experiential training. You’ll learn each process, experience it with one of your own real-life patterns, reflect on what happened, watch how it can be facilitated with a client, and then practice using it yourself.

This means you won’t simply leave with information. You’ll understand the processes from the inside, so you can apply them with greater clarity, confidence and compassion in your client work.

WHAT YOU MAY EXPERIENCE PERSONALLY:

As you work with your own patterns, you may begin to:

  • understand why a behaviour, pattern or inner conflict has been hard to shift

  • recognise the emotional needs underneath your own responses

  • feel more compassion for the parts of you that have been trying to cope, protect or get something important met

  • notice when different needs are pulling you in opposite directions

  • loosen attachment to particular people, outcomes or circumstances

  • find healthier ways to respond to what you need, without believing you have to do everything alone

WHAT YOU’LL DEVELOP PROFESSIONALLY:

Professionally, you’ll develop the ability to:

  • see beneath the presenting problem and recognise behaviours as possible expressions of underlying emotional needs

  • identify needs that may be neglected, disowned, conflicted or conditional

  • distinguish the need itself from the strategy being used to meet it

  • use self-enquiry and kinesiology where appropriate to investigate what may be driving the pattern

  • apply the AAA Model, Pendulum Process and Conditional Release with greater confidence

  • ask clearer questions that support curiosity, compassion and choice rather than rushing to fix

WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH:

  • a new lens for understanding stress, self-sabotage and stuck patterns

  • three practical processes for working with emotional needs

  • a questioning framework for exploring what sits beneath the presenting problem

  • greater self-understanding from experiencing the work yourself

  • greater confidence bringing the processes into your practice with clients
